The search for Standing Arches

It's been a little while since I've shared some of my photos with you, so here's a break from the Sustainable Living posts.

On Tuesday the sun decided to shine, we finally saw a break in the never ending rain that's been pouring down on Islay 🙌. And what better way to celebrate than search for Standing Arches by coast?!

We picked up the map, picked out the marked Arches, and picked our route. We headed up to Sanaigmore, a simply stunning area of this little Island, we started walking North-East.

The waves were crashing, the cliffs were high and the sunshine was glorious.

Approximately 40mins walk from Sanaigmore Bay we come across a second sandy beach and instantly fell in love. It's definitely a new favourite where we've decided to camp come summer, but this wasn't enough so on we walked.

On to Ton Mhor where we scaled the cliff tops mesmerised by the roaring sea below and the soaring sea birds curious of who we were.

But as the day began to fade away we reluctantly turned back. On our return we headed over the land instead of sticking to the coast. But land meant bog, bog deep enough for the dogs to swim in! But what's a walk without a little adventure...  Here's to the next one.

P.S. for anyone who's wondering. No, we didn't find the elusive Standing Arches....
